Properties of lamb meat and the best methods of its preparation

Despite the undisputed health-promoting properties of lamb, it is not recommended to eat it too often. It is best to eat it no more than once a week, because like pork,  lamb  is relatively fatty. This is due to the high content of saturated fatty acids, which directly contribute to the risk of atherosclerosis or coronary heart disease, as well as an increase in blood cholesterol levels. It is also worth noting that some parts of lamb, such as those from the leg, are the leanest and actually the best to eat, but be careful with the shoulder, which in turn has the highest fat content. Lamb meat is so nutritious and healthy thanks to its content, among others:
  • B vitamins,
  • large amounts of protein,
  • zinc and iron ,
  • linoleic acid,
  • antioxidants.
Orotic acids that are beneficial to human health, which are also found in lamb meat, have a direct impact on the aging process, and also have properties that prevent the formation of cancer cells.

How do you make lamb?

Due to the fact that lamb is quite a specific meat, its preparation also differs slightly from standard cooking methods. If we decide to fry it, it is extremely important that the oil on which the meat will be fried is properly warmed up. Thanks to this, the proteins in the meat will be cut quickly, and the meat will remain juicy and will not let go of juices. Additionally, it is not recommended to cook lamb in water, because during such heat treatment it leaves its valuable nutritional properties in the water, instead of inside. It will taste great if it is gently grilled or fried before steaming, making it look juicy from the outside. Steaming allows you to keep the most important vitamins and nutritional properties in meat, and in addition, this method of cooking is recommended for people on a reduction diet.
