JUSTIN BIEBER AND JACK DORSEY, AMONG THE 10 MILLION AFFECTED BY THE MGM HOTEL-CASINO HACK

Justine Bieber or the founder of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, are just some of the famous names detected in the latest big internet leak. This is a list, published in a popular hacker forum, taken from the MGM Resorts, the big casino and hotel complexes that are synonymous with Las Vegas. The leak, detected by the cybersecurity company Under the Breach, has been verified by the technological medium ZDNet, and affects more than 10.6 million customers.

The data published does not include financial information, but does include personal information such as passport or telephone numbers. The attack appears to have occurred three years ago, and MGM notified the affected seniors last summer. Justin Bieber has not only been a client of the MGM Grand, but he also knows the resort's entertainment center well: he has been both a star in concerts at the Grand Garden Arena, and a spectator for years of his friend Floyd Mayweather Jr's millionaire boxing matches. Although his credit card details are safe, knowledge of his personal details makes him and the others affected more vulnerable to impersonation attacks and access to his phone that could reveal intimate information. For his part, Twitter founder Jack Dorsey already knows how it feels to be hacked: it happened to him a few months ago when he briefly lost control of his own Twitter account. Precisely the kind of attack that needs that personal information to succeed.
