SHORT ESSAY, HOW TO PROCEED: THE STRUCTURE Identify the purpose of your short essay and analyze the documents.

What do you want to prove with your argument? To answer this question, which is essential for writing a good short essay, you will first need to get an idea of what the outline requires of you. We therefore recommend that you:

-highlight the key words of the title;
-analyze the data and documents provided;
-compare different writing websites, identifying similarities and/or differences;
-retrieve personal knowledge and experiences from your own life that relate to the given topic.

In fact, your task is to make reasoned connections among the material at your disposal, citing at least three sources in your short essay and adding something from your own cultural background. The connections, however, cannot be made randomly: they must follow a logical thread related to the purpose of your essay that you will decide.

The outline: thesis and antithesis

Before writing the actual short essay, you must be clear about the order in which to proceed. The outline you are going to elaborate should be the result of the analysis of the documents at your disposal and how, step by step, you will decide to deal with the individual points. In doing so, remember that your paper must be developed in an organic and coherent way.

Since this is a critical and argumentative text, you may choose to divide your short essay into paragraphs, possibly following the classic thesis-antithesis-synthesis scheme, that is:

-Strongly state your idea (thesis)
-Give space to the positions that are opposed to it (antithesis)
-Refute the antithesis with a new reaffirmation - even stronger and more decisive - of your thesis (synthesis)

The Introduction

The introduction of the paperhelpwriting review serves to introduce the topic to those who are about to read it. Already here the reader should understand what is the purpose of the text, the topic that will be treated and how it will be presented.

Method of presentation
The modes of treatment from which you can choose are:

   -Argumentative short essay
It is a composition in which the author expresses his thesis and demonstrates its validity thanks to the material at his disposal, which, therefore, has its own precise utility within the text.
   -Critical short essay
In this case, the purpose is to disagree with some theories, obviously supporting their opinion with objective data. You can venture into this second type if the sources at your disposal belong to two factions or if you are able to cite, in addition to those chosen by Miur in case you choose it for the first test, other authors who are part of your cultural heritage.
   _Explanatory short essay
This is a piece of writing that helps readers understand a particular topic thanks to explanations and information taken from various sources. This particular type can be a solution if the material that is provided constitutes an in-depth study of a single topic and you do not have a real thesis to support it.
  -Make your thesis known
In the course of your short essay, you will need to set out the main theme of the paper. In support of your thesis, you should provide facts, data, opinions, experiences... and anything else that will help to support it. You should anticipate criticism (antithesis), using persuasive arguments. In the face of counter-arguments and possible objections, it is important to be tolerant but firm and never rude.
Make sure that the writing is not too schematic, add transitional sentences, i.e. links between one paragraph and another that give continuity and bind the various paragraphs, giving the whole a discursive tone.

The conclusion of the short essay
When you reach the end, again highlight the main points of your thesis. The conclusion should be a reasoned explanation that will definitely give meaning to the whole essay.

The title
Now that the short essay is finished, you need to find a title, a small sentence that is both clear and catchy. It can be a title that summarizes the topic of the essay, that summarizes the conclusion you have reached, or a title that anticipates thesis and counter-thesis.
Within the title you can also use quotes but check that they are really relevant to what you are writing in the short essay.
Finally, if you feel it is necessary, you can add a subtitle.
