Eligibility Criteria for Umrah Obligations
Umrah pilgrimage is one of the most frequently performed Ibadah in Islam. With millions of annual numbers of pilgrims arriving in Saudia Arabia for the holy rituals, the country specifically offers Umrah visas for the believers wishing to perform the minor pilgrimage. The Umrah season can last all around the year however days of hajj are exempt. That’s why travel agents across the globe offer a wide range of Umrah Packages from UK and other countries to make travel easy, safe, and convenient for everybody.

If you are planning for a minor pilgrimage alone or with family, here’s what you should know about the eligibility criteria.

Minimum age.

The applicant of the umrah visa must be of 18 years of age (at least) in order to travel alone for the rituals. However, children under 18 years old should be accompanied by a guardian.

Documents Required.

An appropriately filled and duly signed visa application form must be submitted to the relevant authorities with;
•    A passport having at least six months of validity (at the time of submission).
•    One recently captured passport-sized color photograph with a front-face view. It must be in the white background as well as doesn’t have any side angles.
•    A vaccination certificate issued by a registered health professional stating that all the necessary vaccination shots have been taken by the applicant. The type of vaccinations, however, can differ depending on the region you are travelling from.
•    A copy of your pre-booked return flight.
•    A valid residence proof (hotel accommodation) where an applicant must be staying during Umrah stay.
• If an applicant has a non-Muslim name, he/she should also submit a certificate authorized by a mosque or an Islamic center stating that the applicant is, in fact, a Muslim.

Biometric Verification.

In addition to submitting all of the above-mentioned documents, the applicants are now required to undergo biometric verification through fingerprinting. If someone fails to validate his/her legal identity, the visa application would be rejected right at the moment. Therefore, it’s necessary that you have your biometric record updated when applying for an umrah visa.

The validity of Umrah Visa.

Umrah visas are issued with one-month validity. However, the actual validity of an umrah visa is of 15 days only. In other words, the flexibility of extra 15 days is given in order to make up for any flight or travel delays for the pilgrims. Once you arrive in the kingdom, departure on the 15th day is an obligation.

Umrah on Visit Visa.

Under the Saudi Vision 2030 plan, a lot of policy changes were made within the ministry of Hajj and umrah. As per the new rules, Muslims are now allowed to offer their Umrah rituals with their tourist/visit visas to the kingdom as well. These visas are available through both online mediums i.e., e-visa as well as through visa-on-arrival facility.

So, if you are travelling soon for the holy rituals of umrah, these are the requirements for obtaining an umrah visa
